The patterns, Shade and Shadow, are found in numerous scenes of Japanese traditional life style.

Something subtle can be noticed among them: finding beauty that is typically Japanese in patterns and silhouettes that emerge in and by light.

Inspired from traveling in Japan, we reconstructed the cheque patterns, color and traditional clothing style.

The purpose was to achieve a harmonious fusion of Japanese tradition and modernity, based upon the traditional crafts of textile production in Kiryu.

TERAUCHI DESIGN OFFICE & Seiji INOUE EXHIBITION

A first collaborative exhibition will be held by a Japanese product designer, Yumi Terauchi, together with fashion designer, Seiji Inoue, with the theme of "JAPANism”.

Their designs are created by the use of authentic materials and techniques in Japan.

Instead of traditional designs you have seen elsewhere, what you would see are products reconstructed from a brand new perspective, such as ceramics, glass, lighting, wood, paper and cloths.

伝統的な桐生の織物技術をベースに日本の伝統的なものと現代的なものを融合する。

プロダクトデザイナー・寺内ユミとファッションデザイナー・井上セイジによる “JAPANism” をテーマ にした初の個展を開催します。

日本が誇る素材や伝統的な技術を活かし、創造性に溢れる洗練された デザインを生み出しています。

陶磁器・硝子・照明・木・紙・布など新しい視点で再構築したプロダクト を発表します。

二人のデザインの中に日本の本質的な美しさを見出すことができるでしょう。
